  • Custom Earmolds/Earplugs
    Specialty earmolds made from individual ear impressions for musicians, swimmers, hunters, recreational shooters, motorcycle riders, race car enthusiasts or light sleepers. Special earplugs used for ear protection or with hearing instruments, cell phones, pilot’s headsets etc., are made to fit the individual ear and are delivered with a 3 month guarantee on a comfortable and appropriate fit. Time allotted: 15 minutes for ear impressions.
  • Musician Earplugs
    We dispense over-the-counter earplugs (ER 20) from Etymotic Research as well as the custom fit ER-9, ER-15 and ER-25. An audiologic evaluation is recommended as part of the fitting. Time allotted: 30-40 minutes including ear impressions.
  • Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
    An in-office display and demonstration area for amplified telephones, TV. listening systems, alarm clocks and other alerting devices for comfort and safety.
  • Audiologic Evaluations
    Comprehensive test battery to assess hearing levels by air and bone conduction, word recognition, understanding of speech in noise, tympanograms and acoustic reflexes. Time allotted: 1 hour.
  • Hearing Aid Evaluation/Consultation
    Review of audiogram, explanation of impact of hearing loss, APHAB or COSI assessment inventory, discussion of hearing aids, selection of appropriate circuit and model, ear impressions. Time allotted: 1 hour.
  • Pediatric Evaluation
    Conditioned play audiometry, visual reinforcement audiometry in sound field or with ear phones, word recognition (WIPI Test), tympanograms and acoustic reflexes. Time allotted: 1 hour.
  • Pre-Employment Evaluation
    An abbreviated hearing evaluation for economy of time and money; includes interpretation and completion of forms for employment, military or monitoring purposes. Allotted time: 30 minutes.
  • Speaker's Bureau
    We are available for Health Fairs to provide literature, demonstrations and hearing screenings. We offer talks to staff and employees on the effects of hearing loss for co-workers, residents in care facilities or classrooms. We believe an audiologist is the appropriate professional to support education, understanding and provide a bridge to healing.

  • Hearing Aid Compliance Check
    Electroacoustic measures of hearing aid function determine if the instrument meets the original manufacturer’s specifications. Testing while wearing hearing aids includes testing in the sound booth, measures of speech in noise and real ear measures. The compliance check is standard practice when a patient has received new hearing aids or may be done to assess existing hearing aids. Time allotted: 30-45 minutes.
  • Video Otoscopy
    A view of the ears cast on a monitor for the patient and the audiologist to review together. Time allotted: 10-15 minutes.
  • Hands Free Cell Phone Use
    CUSTOM EARPLUGS FOR ALL HANDS-FREE UNITS.  CHICAGO'S new law effective July 12, 2005 requires all drivers to use a "hands free" mode of cell phone use while driving. We can provide a custom earplug in neutral or vibrant colors for your device for $37.50. Call and ask for an appointment for an ear impression.
